My Aloe`s are in bloom now & the hummingbirds love it.
This is the aloe that you break a piece of to rub the milk on cuts & burns.
If you are not familiar with these beauties, mine are blooming to over 8 feet high.
The single main foreground bloom spray is over 1 foot high.
I had set out to shoot the squid boats at sunset but realized I was going to be too late, so I exited the highway stage left onto the beach where I just got a quick glimpse of the 'go down'.
I whipped into a parking spot, left Dave Brubeck on the radio, jumped out & plopped my camera on the top of the car.
What you see is not a lagoon but the reflection of the sunset of of the top of my car.
Tomorrow I will attempt the squid run again.
The sunset is linked to the aloe fireworks shot.
Enjoy the great weather while you can.
I sure am.

If you hadn't said about the reflection, I would have never guessed. Even at the biggest size, I can't tell.
The weather at my place is not for enjoying -- it's gray, wet, chilly (or as we like to call such weather around here: November). But it's nice to know that you're having lovely weather; I'll work on enjoying it vicariously.
I'll enjoy your weather and you can enjoy ours, andi. Although it IS raining this morning, and I'm thrilled.
I didn't know aloe bloomed - those are gorgeous, 'head. I have a few in my yard, but don't know if I'll ever see flowers on them. I'll keep watching!
And as always, thanks for the sunset. I need to make more of an effort to watch them - it's way too easy to let them slip away, unnoticed.
AndiF,
The reflection of the top of the car did surprise me also.
I do not post images of our sunny weather to rub it in, but to show you the greenery & jungle-like atmosphere I live & work in.
Sorry
Beth,
I have quite a variety of different Aloes & they all bloom.
The aloe from the images posted is about 8/10 feet in diameter.
I`ll try & get a nice pic of the plant/colony tomorrow in the daytime.
It`s hard for me to let the sunsets slip away, they are always right there off my deck, or right behind my back if I`m at the computer, or right in front of me if I look up over to the large mirror over the fireplace which reflects the sunset from behind me to right in front of me.
It`s a rough life.
