CERIUSLY

 LINENS DSCN8755
When moving this very tall cactus last fall, I had serious doubts as to whether it would survive.
These are the first blooms this year, & it has more buds than ever.
It looks like there will be dozens of these beauties this season. The perfume from the flower is entrancing.
It is pollinated by a certain moth, so it does have to send out a unique scent to attract them.
These will die tomorrow. They only bloom overnight & their bloom wilts with the rising sun.
Enjoy them with me please.

What a gorgeous bloom and what a great set of shots. I particularly liked the framing of HAND OUT DSCN8737 and use of perspective to get interesting edges and light/shadow in DSCN8745.

Morning Head and Andi.

That's a great bloom and I agree with Andi on the light/shadow.

It's too bad the bloom doesn't last longer being as pretty as it is.

Hope you have a great w/e ahead of you Head.

Hi Head, Andi, FM.

Head - these flowers are beautiful and favourites of mine (as you know ;). So good to see that they moved well ... :)

Andif,
I like Hand Out" also.
8745 looks like a bouquet for some sort of ceremony. I hadn`t seen at it that way, till I went back at your mention of it, regarding light & shadow.
Anybody who sees these are always stunned.

Hi FM,
You know, there`s been times where a perfect, one night stand, might have been forever ruined.
I think part of the mystique, is the intensity of the moment , which makes it unforgettable.

Reminds me of the song, "Night Moves"
If you remember, I did plant a bloom for you last year. It is doing very well, but may not bloom yet for a few more years.
I don`t know what determines the bloom "trigger".

Head, this makes me wish I still had those Cereus I started in college, because though not the same as yours, they were stunning when they bloomed. Unfortunately when I lived in the Mutant String Bean State (FL), my mother managed to kill them off by putting them in her basement. Maybe some day I'll have another...
