METEORITE SHOWER

 METEORITE SHOWER DSCN9137
Finally, my mystery bloom opened tonight. And a spectacle it was. It took about four hours to fluff it`s crinolines.
It is from the same cactus as last week`s pink bloom. I`m expecting a different color morph yet, but maybe next year.
Strangely, my other cactus also bloomed today.
This time though, it did so on steroids.
Never before has it produced the number of blooms as tonight. There are 24 booms on it, & the whole area is scented with their delicious aroma. These are on Planet Earth tonight.
The header is the Solistice Sunset.
Since it was the longest day of the year, I made it out of 11 shots I took at sunset.
Enjoy your summertime blues, or whatever music floats your boat.

That's an amazing set (everybody be sure to click on the image to see them all). DSCN9123 is an infinity beyond spectacular. Wow.

Over on Planet Earth, DSCN9088 is wonderful. Beautiful sunset, beautiful flowers, great framing.

Andif,
Thank you.
The cactus blooms are more impressive to me than many other flowers.
It seems they are under much more extreme conditions, so when they do bloom, it boggles the senses.
Then I think, they evolved to the conditions, as all other things, & I`m even more amazed at this exceptional planet.

Hiya Head.

I agree with Andi on both 9088 and 9123. I do think my favorite this time is 9123 though.

Hope you're having a good day Head.

Take care.

FM,
The "Licorice Machine" extruding Red Vines, is one of my favorites also.
Between the Peacocks screaming & the seals barking off in the distance, I can`t help but have a good day.
My cactus group had another burst of blooms last night with 14 more.

OMG. You have outdone yourself with these, and so have the cacti. Absolutely breathtaking, esp. against the black background. Wow. (I'm also partial to 9123.)

Nancy P,
The black background is easy. These cactus bloom at night, & the white ones are only open till the next morning, then wilt away, never to open again.
Using a flash unit at night really blasts the white in the blooms, so I usually shoot with a handy battery flashlight, like the one in your kitchen drawer.
The reds also open at night but remain for a few days, although they are not in the bright sun.
The pink one last week, is from the same plant as the red bloom posted. I was hoping for a few more different colors, but that may happen yet.
Thank you.
Come back anytime you please.

I thought that said, "planet," and I was totally willing to believe it.

(Thank you. You betcha I will return again and again!)

Nancy P,
Yes, and that would also be true.
They are one of the pleasures in my world, which sometimes seems to orbit on a different plane, & for that I`m forever grateful.

I see you know what I meant.
