Meat Eater
This should entice you to check the linked images.
This is one of my carnivorous plants.
Luckily Teri noticed it`s opening & called me to bring my camera.
The total time elapsed from the first image, when it`s just opening, to the full starburst, is about 4/5 minutes at most.
The images with the flies & ants, were taken maybe 6/7 hours later.
I did include an image on Planet Earth of a physicist at rest who is currently visiting here.
Believe me, I think he "rested" a little too much.

(another blank screen - eek!)
Holy cow, 'head, it looks vicious - Hollywood should consider making this little guy their next horror movie villain. Oh, wait, that was done already in The Little Shop of Horrors....but yours is a lot more horrible! :)
Better blank than the creepiness of that plant, Beth. :)
Although DSCN8713 does show it can be kind of pretty when it's not looking so threatening.
Head, this week's theme at Friday Foto Flogging is another easy one: Green.
That is awesome -- and the reds look really, really good on my screen here.
I looked through the set and can't believe how much that plant looks like human skin in some shots. Eek.
The physicist looks like he spilled something on his shirt ... ;-)
Hey, remind me to keep my fingers out of that one.
I'm back in the city for a brief stay, so I have the luxury of getting caught up on photo blogs.
I should really make another attempt to get high speed for the boonies location. Then I would miss all the action in the comment section.
I'm sure it's just doing its job, but this flower is the stuff of nightmares!
Miss you. Will call.
Évangeline
Beth, I`m so sorry my correspondence is lacking in manners, especially since I do strive to practice them daily.
The most "horrible" thing about the plant is the Aquarian, watering it.
Growl!!!
AndiF,
Thank you for the "Green" reminder.
Olivia,
As you well know, my problem capturing "reds" is something we`ve discussed before, so thank you for your kind patronage.(hah)
Yes, the skin of the open star does look human, maybe as a guise to attract more "cadaver" flies.
That`s Teri`s dad, btw.
We had a "mock" battle about me posting him.
I don`t think he minded the pot smoking at all, but the 'stain' bothered him, (the clumsy oaf.)
NDD,
I don`t recommend getting high on speed, no matter if you`re in the "boonies" or not.
Evangeline,
Apart from the interruptions, it was great talking to you.
