COASTAL RUN

DSCN0049
I did a run up the coast on Sat. to get my head clear for my new garden & parking design at my place.
It had been in planning stages for about a year. Now it`s all coming together, as you`ll shortly have the privilege to critique.

The coastal fog was more persistent than usual but it was a fun ride.
On one side the palisade cliffs & on the other (linked to the image), the aquamarine Pacific.
Have a great week ahead.

I`ll be working on my garden an hour a day with some of my crew, before heading to the job sites I`m on, so I may have it done by the end of the week.

Those shots of the new blooms are gorgeous, especiallly DSCN0038. And you and your bike are rather good-looking too. :)

Echoing andi. What a great bike! Is that purple or blue, 'Head? And what a great ride, too - a perfect motorcycle road. Good luck with the new projects!

AndiF,
The new blooms you like are part of my new garden.

I`m probably as prickly looking as my cactus.

Beth,
The bike is deep purple & white.
The white though has a special purple dust in it that shows up in highlights in certain light.
The coast is just the perfect cruise road for this bike.
I`ve been riding it as far as north Frisco at times & south to San Diego for almost 40 years.
Then there`s the desert runs I love also, out to Laughlin & Vegas, Joshua Tree & Palm Springs.
The beast is 72 years old & just growls.

Wow, that's amazing it's that old. And so gorgeous - purple is my favorite color. We rode 299 to 3 to 36 from Redding, CA to the coast on an Ultraclassic last summer, and found out later that it is one of the best motorcycle roads in the country. I know Bill thought it was. And you have to love the PCH...on a bike, car, or tricycle!

Hi Head! Glad you had a good time on your ride - you look great. :) What do you carry in your bags? I love bikes w/ bags.

Oh, and the description of the purple dust in the white paint sounds gorgeous.

Olivia,
Thanks,
Now I have a camera, tripod, a bottle of water, often some fruit or a sammy.
I used to ride with any number of "bags" hanging on as in "the old bag", but I run solo now. Years ago when Brutus, (a hummingbird) had to be fed often, he`d ride in a little container inside my bags, rather than leave him home alone starving.
It would amaze people when I`d stop somewhere to feed him & exercise him.

Olivia, I`ll see if I can photograph it.
I should be able to.

Sounds good!

Mighty purty bike ya got there. I'm wondering if it's that old does the drive run off a chain rather than a belt?

Knucklehead said...

NDD,
It used to have a double row chain, but I replaced it with a belt-drive that fits inside the original primary drive case, so you can`t tell.
The belt is a lot more maintenance free.
They used to be chain driven into the mid seventies I think.
I`d have to look in one of my "Harley Bibles" for the exact year belts were introduced.

I enjoyed looking at your blog. I found it looking for examples of motorcycle art. Nice ride. I have an '02 Sportster.
