Wow! That hummingbird is beautiful, the photo is beautiful.

Question ... did you go shirtless to get that black background?

Olivia,
Yes, that is a real beauty of a hummingbird, amazing tiny things that they are.
The photo of the hummingbird is only beautiful because the little thing interjected itself into it, with that little glance.
Thank you, but like I told dada, chance is what makes images I take what they are.
I cannot turn the birds head, but by chance I shot it when it did. I do have to admit that this was a mission shot.
I`ll make a mission of shooting something until I get what I want.
This shot had me moving a 100lb. planter continuously for hours to keep certain light on the area I knew this hummingbird would return to. Then it was wait for it`s return, approximately every 10 mins. This one, named IRIS lived in our house from the time of it`s rescue, when it had not yet had a first flight, till when the door was opened, to allow it to decide on it`s own what freedom really was, never having experienced it.
Now I have the freedom to show Iris off, when perchance, she looks over, with that "look".

That`s a slapper, but for this kind of shot, as I said, I kept moving a big planter around while making sure a dark back ground was always there.
When I say moving it around, I didn`t mean in a circle, I meant around the yard. But I did have my shirt off for your prurient interest, & I did spend the night at a Holiday Inn.
The "Super Nova" on my Planet Earth today is of one of my tank creatures, taken in the late night darkness of my tank, in the office here.

This is really something knucklehead, very dramatic and wild. I'd love the flower by itself. But this photo is magic.

It's interesting that today both you and olivia have photos of wild creatures in seemingly impossibly controlled poses.

I feel like I've got an art gallery at my fintertips.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

That is so lovely that I am rendered wordless except for these thirteen.

Wonderful shot Head. The colors are something to begin with, but your capture of the hummingbird is spectacular.

Catharine, Good day.
Please, let your fingers do the walking, & come over any day.
The magic is the subject, one of the little jesters in our different patches of gardens around the compound.

Nancy p,

I love things that do that to me.
I think I get the idea, you have something for these mini wonders.
Yours is a most gracious comment, thank you.

FM,
Thank you, sir.
One is bound to get a presentable image when the model cooperates, & maybe does so, to get one to quit putting her in lights.
Have a relaxing day, wherever you are.

To all , but especially to those who visit here.
Teri, was quick to point out, that this is Iris`s boyfriend.
Iris never wears a red hat.
Also, there`s always a little surprise on "PLANET EARTH", a short walk to the right on the home page.

Fantastic! I'm finding something new to admire each time I look at it. I especially love the hairy flower bulb in the lower-right portion of the shot.

Manny,
I`m glad you also discover little things.
The other day I was shooting a little chick in a nest.
I was told there was one.
I took a few shots & when I downloaded them, there were two, which at first I didn`t understand.
I was so focused on the one I was told about, I never even saw the other. The camera is a truth finder, through the view finder.

I'm still amazed that you and your wife were able to rescue and nurture these beautiful creatures! Ever since I saw the first shots a year or so ago, I've admired your tenacity to help them do what they are destined to do. That speaks volumes about a person, and what it says to me is that Knucklehead is kind not only to the earth, but the creatures upon it.

Merci, mon ami, le pirate.

Hey IVG,
It`s my room too, & I`m sort of glad the creatures let me rent a space in their world.
The rent is cheap, & the company is great.
I had some friends in from the desert today, & they were tripping on my buddy Coconut [ a Goffin Cockatoo] as he bounced around in circles swaying on the radio antenna of my truck.
He is a total showoff.
