RED MOON AIRLINER

_DSC0102
While I was shooting the eclipse in a timed sequence to be able to create a slide show, the shutter speed had to be altered.
By the time I was below 300/ sec. I started using a 10 sec timer. The aperture was open wide at 2.8 & by the time the moon was completely red, I was shooting at three seconds. Then a huge airliner came in at an unusual glide slope, seemingly to show the passengers the eclipse. I figured it would pass very close to the moon from my vantage point so all I had to do was estimate the time of it`s transsect with my shot & include in that estimate the 10 sec time delay. I had been having trouble also with the change in humidity & temperature that was causing distortion in my resulting shots. I took the best guess & clicked the shutter. .13 secsonds later & this is the result. The wavy lines are caused by the atmospheric conditions distorting the lights from the aircraft that was messing with the sharpness of my shots, but this one proved I hadn`t eaten too many blooms. Speaking of which, this is a replacement post for the one I loaded a few hours ago. I just put this one up to keep the sky watchers here up to date. Please do go see tonight`s bloom though. It`s below this post, & has a few tricks for the experimental photogs that hang here. I`m off to sleep for a few hours.
Enjoy.

Nice shot here too Head. Reminds me somewhat of when you were posting moon shots over at the cafe.

Thanks FM,
That was probably the last times I`d stay up all night to shoot the whole month-long sequence.

Olivia,
I woke up with bubbles drooling out of my mouth from the soap petals I ate last night.
Just kidding, but it still tastes like that could`ve happened.
This is one of those times, where my famous "I`ll try anything twice", will not apply.

Nancy p,
You are quite welcome.
It definitely was a surprise having the monster plane approach on this path. I`m very aware of the paths these planes take on their approach to LAX, so I could only conclude the plane`s passengers were watching the same eclipse as I was, while at the same time, unaware of my capturing them in our shared moment of wonder.
It was a very nice moment.

I just started like Olivia did, but realized that would look silly. Thank you anyway! I photos are wonderful (as you know, I love your moon shots).

I wanted to see the eclipse, even got up in the middle of the night, but we have too many trees to see, and I wasn't walking out into the part at that hour by myself!

Glorious pictures.

Kidspeak,
I know what you mean by sounding silly. It would be strange maybe if one couldn`t see others` comments.
Then when you open them all together, they say the identical thing. Hah
We do have a little connection with the moon shots.
I`m glad I was able to get as many as I did.
I`m building a slide show of the whole eclipse.
I`ll make sure you get to see it.
Thank you

exquisite timing KH.

It's one of those - ya either get it or ya don't, but ain't it amazing what happens sometimes when one is out making the attempts.

NDD,
If you don`t buy a ticket, you don`t get to win.
I debated how the hell I should figure out the ten seconds of delay, to the point where If I didn`t decide, it wouldn`t matter. I clicked.
